Artistic Author Portraits: Madeline Trice's Personal Branding Session in Brooklyn
I love photographing authors because one of my favorite parts of my job is listening to the stories people have to share, and guess what? They're great storytellers! 😝  For Madeline's session, we chose Prospect Park and the Grand Army Plaza Library, as the goal wasn’t overly polished publicity photos. The idea was to create portraits that feel artistic and natural. We played with movement, shadow, and natural light.
As a documentary-minded portrait photographer, I’m always thinking about context: how a location holds a story, how light shapes identity, how a body occupies space. With Madeline, the session became about visibility and authorship, claiming space both creatively and publicly. The portraits are designed for their book launches, press features, and social media, carrying their personality and voice.
