Hi! I'm Lory, a visual storyteller based in Brooklyn, NY. Growing up in Belém do Pará, Brazil, I didn't have many family photos, and I was always fascinated by photography as a way to cherish feelings and places, but also as a way of being fully present. As a professional photographer since 2011, my curiosity has led me to many places and unique opportunities to connect with people through my work. I'm an observer, documenting love, creativity, and all sorts of things that move us in some way in this chaotic world, from love stories to creative portraits and performing arts.
When I'm not working, you'll find me going for a run with friends, walking around with my dog Bowie, seeing an exhibition, drumming, playing volleyball, or just cooking dinner and spinning records at home with my partner Dylan.
ABOUT MY WORK
My approach is based on documenting life as it is, with intentionality and authenticity, to create joyful and spontaneous images. I specialize in analog photography not only for the aesthetic, but mostly because working with film allows me to slow down and let the moment unfold, incorporating all the magic and being permeable to wonder.
Weddings and love stories are documented in a natural and candid way on a mix of digital and film photos. We also do the "classic” wedding portraits (and of course, I can help with some gentle direction), but forget stiff poses! It's all about you having fun and enjoying the moment while I'm taking pictures!
